What the starting point was

Vito’s loss was not confined to the hairline. The thinning ran back across the top of the scalp, which changes the calculation: the area to be covered is larger, and the donor area has to support all of it in one plan rather than a front row alone.

The assessment starts with donor capacity, not with the area the guest wants covered. Those two numbers decide whether a plan is realistic, and they are established before anyone quotes a graft count.

The plan

Why 4,500 grafts, and why one session

Four thousand five hundred grafts were placed in a single Sapphire FUE session. Channels are opened with a sapphire blade and the follicles, taken one by one with a 0.6–0.8 mm punch, are placed with their natural exit angle preserved at a target density of 45–55 grafts per cm².

A single session was possible because the donor area supported it. Where it does not, the honest answer is a smaller plan or a staged one, and that is said before a flight is booked rather than after.

The year

What the twelve months looked like

The visible recovery finished in about two weeks: crusts lifted between days four and ten, redness faded by day fourteen. Between weeks two and eight the transplanted shafts shed, which is shock loss and is expected.

New growth started around months three to six, thickened through months six to twelve, and the texture and density settled towards month twelve. Judging a transplant before that point is judging it too early.

What one case can and cannot tell you

A single case is evidence that a plan of this size was carried out and documented. It is not a forecast. Donor capacity, the pattern of loss, age, and whether the remaining native hair keeps thinning all differ from person to person, and they decide the outcome more than the technique does.
